Black Sea Ship Sinks After Russian Drone Strike; 3 Indians Safe, Captain Killed | Russia-Ukraine War

Описание: A Turkish-owned cargo ship carrying Indian and Azerbaijani nationals sank in the Black Sea after catching fire, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky blaming Russia for what he called a “horrific strike” by two Russian drones. The MV Royad Mammadov, a 139-metre vessel carrying corn, was reportedly sailing in neutral waters when the incident occurred.

Romanian authorities confirmed that two crew members were killed and 11 others were rescued after the vessel caught fire inside Romania’s exclusive economic zone. Three rescued crew members suffered injuries and were taken for medical treatment.

The Indian Embassy in Romania confirmed that three Indian nationals were among the crew. The embassy initially said some crew members had been injured, before confirming that all three Indians were safe. One Indian national sustained injuries and is receiving medical attention. Ambassador Manoj Mohapatra also spoke with the three Indians and hospital authorities in Constanța, assuring them of all possible assistance.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea during the Russia-Ukraine war, raising fresh questions about the safety of civilian shipping and global food supply routes.
