Netravati Peak is in Samse, Kalasa and is located in the Kudremukh range of the Western Ghats in Chikmagalur district, Karnataka. It's part of the Kudremukh National Park area, known for its misty mountains, lush forests, and untouched beauty.

Altitude:
About 1520 meters (approx. 4986 ft) above sea level.

Trek Difficulty:
Moderate – requires good stamina, especially during monsoons when trails get slippery. The last 2.5 km is bit steep as seen in this video.

Trek Distance:
Around 10 km (both ways). It typically takes 3–4 hours to reach the peak depending on pace.

Dense shola forests

Rolling grasslands

Stream crossings

Stunning valley views

Great biodiversity (ideal for nature lovers)

Best Time to Visit:

Post-monsoon (September to February) for lush green views and clearer skies – ideal for drone flying.

Avoid peak monsoon season (June–August) due to leeches and low visibility.

Permission & Guide Info:

You need permission from the Forest Department.
A local guide is mandatory as the trail is not very well marked and it passes through reserve forest area.

Camping is not allowed on the peak – usually a day trek.

Nearby Base Village:

Samse or Kalasa are common base points.

The trek usually starts from a place called Balegal.
