Prominent advocate Jada Sravan Kumar has strongly criticized the previous YSRCP government, alleging that Dalits and tribal communities were deceived and severely disadvantaged during Jagan’s five-year tenure. He has presented figures and raised several concerns about how SC and ST communities were allegedly treated under the previous government. Jada Sravan Kumar alleged that SC and ST communities lacked adequate protection during Jagan’s tenure. According to the figures he cited, 220 SC/ST people were allegedly killed, while more than 56,000 attacks were reported across the state, including 630 cases of sexual assault against women. He further alleged that the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, which is intended to protect victims, was misused under the previous government, damaging its credibility. He claimed that courts subsequently dismissed around 90% of the cases as false cases. In the education sector, he alleged that medical-seat fees that were supposed to be around ₹16,000 were increased to between ₹16 lakh and ₹23 lakh. He said cases concerning the government orders are still pending in court. He also alleged that several initiatives, including the Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Scheme, study leave for employees, tribal appointments in Scheduled Areas, SC Corporation activities, community hall construction, seats in Gurukul and residential schools, and skill-development programmes, were discontinued. He further alleged that the previous government discontinued as many as 26 welfare schemes aimed at the economic and social development of Dalits. These reportedly included the land purchase scheme, incentives for inter-caste marriages, Book Bank, SC Corporation security loans, NSFDC and NSKDC loans, and Mala, Madiga and Relli corporations. He also alleged that 12,500 acres of assigned land belonging to poor families were taken away and claimed that ₹4.98 lakh crore in SC/ST Sub-Plan funds were diverted over five years. He also raised concerns over the discontinuation of hostel cosmetic charges and subsidies for welfare hostels. Based on all these allegations, Jada Sravan Kumar’s central argument is that Jagan allegedly used emotional politics based on caste and religion to mislead Dalit communities. He urged SC and ST voters not to fall into the belief that a particular leader is automatically “one of our own,” and emphasized that welfare schemes are not charity but the rights of citizens. He called on SC and ST communities to carefully consider these issues and make informed decisions when voting.
