Treatment and ongoing trials in autoimmune encephalitis

There are ongoing efforts to identify the most effective treatments for patients, including clinical trials. Specifically, the ExTINGUISH (NCT04372615) is investigating the efficacy of inebilizumab in patients with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. Other trials are focusing on different types of antibody-driven encephalitis. Dr Lopez expresses excitement at the prospect of having strong data from these trials to guide treatment decisions, as the current approach is largely based on expert opinions.
