Meeting on Dalit Reality-discrimination by caste in Delhi 2014.
The Meeting on Dalit Rights was held at Jungpura in New Delhi on 29th January 2014. The Aim of this meeting was two-way learning and sharing Process. 45 Dalit lawyers and activists were called from Madhya Pradesh who are part of a Centre for Social Justice and Equity Programme, which works to prevent atrocities against Dalits, Tribals and Women and to invoke justice for the individuals and families concerned. It was organised by Human Rights Law Network.
Their work includes capacity-building people in their local communities, policy advocacy and legal help in order to prevent at address atrocities. A further key intervention of the programme is to sensitised and build the capacities of practicing advocates in the area of atrocities. The organization has intervened in more than 400 cases of murder, rape, social ostracizing and violence and in many cases justice has been delivered.
These lawyers and activists came to share their experiences of their work and strategies used, and to learn about HRLN's work, with a distinct focus on the legal strategies used at HRLN.
