You know the movie, you know the music. It's an iconic theme that dredges up feelings of dread and cold terror.
Not many have come close to capturing the paranoid insanity of John Carpenters seminal masterpiece THE THING.
JC (I can only assume) begrudgingly handed over the musical reigns to Maestro Ennio Morricone for this film, and while most of his music doesn't even appear in the movie, the soundtrack stands on its own as a terrifying accompaniment to one of the greatest horror films ever made.
I've chosen to compose this cover as it is on the official album (with a few mins trimmed of dun duns) which means that the insanely garish second half of the track becomes the main event and the cherry on top. The jarring change of pace always hits hard when listening to the soundtrack and I hope its something I have accomplished here.
