"Night of the Zoopocalypse" 2025 – "Nuit au Zoo" is an upcoming animated comedy horror film set to release in the United States and Canada on March 7, 2025. The film is inspired by a concept from renowned author Clive Barker and is directed by veteran animators Ricardo Curtis and Rodrigo Perez-Castro.

Plot Overview:

The story unfolds at Colepepper Zoo, where a meteor crash introduces a mysterious virus that transforms the animals into zombie-like mutants. A young wolf named Gracie teams up with a gruff mountain lion named Dan to find a cure. Together, they lead a ragtag group of survivors, including Xavier, a movie-buff lemur; Frida, a fearless capybara; and Poot, a tiny but mighty pygmy hippo. Their mission is to outwit the horde of zombie animals and reclaim their home.

Production Notes:

The film was initially set to be animated by Tangent Animation, but after the studio's shutdown, production shifted to L'Atelier Animation and Mac Guff. Storyboard and pre-production were handled by House of Cool. The filmmakers made creative decisions to differentiate between mutant and normal characters by varying the realism of fur textures and employing specific lighting and fog effects to achieve a low-budget horror film aesthetic.

Release Information:

"Night of the Zoopocalypse" premiered at the 57th Sitges Film Festival on October 7, 2024. Following its U.S. and Canadian release on March 7, 2025, the film is expected to be released in the U.K. during the Halloween season by Kazoo Films.
