Falling solidly into the "I told you so" category, a Representative on Friday Aug. 23rd submitted a bill to give the NHTSA the power and direction to create pedestrian safety standards.
I did a video over a year ago warning this was coming. The US has increasing pedestrian fatalities when other countries are decreasing, and it's largely tied to the size, weight, and visibility out of our trucks and suvs.
If the industry wouldn't address it claiming they were just giving consumers what they want, I predicted some politician and regulator would step in.
And here we are.
It's the first step in what should be a multi-year process, but the cat is out of the bag.
