Hello loyal fans and up-the-catch-fence, tarp huggers (tennis terminology referring to untouchable service clockers!),
At longer last, Jartichoke.com Media very proudly presents the latest music video by Author Jacque D'Artichoke, J.D.: Johnny West Portal is a hip-hop/pop rock anthem with a tinge of techno fusion. The song, which I electronically created on my Mac, romanticizes the San Franciscan neighborhood near where I grew up and am now banned (largely because it was time to spread my wings before hopefully one day possibly returning as a prodigal son. Fortunately, I still meet my mom at third party locales.) The song rhetorically asks, "Is anybody home?" Yes, a German Shepherd!
Johnny West Portal (as well as the novel, The Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter) expresses communication challenges that humanity encounters in general that are difficult, but may be surmounted with patience, openness, compromise, and forgiveness. Ideological impasses may peacefully dissipate with persistence and mutual cooperation. Violence, bigotry, hatred, and religious intolerance are antithetical to civilized societies. We have a moral imperative to reach out to those who are struggling, even when they appear dissimilar to us.
Johnny West Portal also touts the pining of a romantic celibate. It is available on iTunes.
My autobiographical novel, The Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter, is 99.9% true-- even how 30 pairs of my Hanes briefs in law school were mysteriously heisted from the rejuvenating laundry after I placed a purple bell pepper...Is there an underground, black market for the underwear of non-celebrities?
The Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter illuminates how multiple personas and a maverick identity tackle adversity internally--solely from within. Elements of human consciousness explored include self-image, the competitive sports mindset, spirituality, social conscience, and spatial aesthetics.
In particular, my cooperative and cut-throat, 20-year competition tennis odyssey, wacky travails surviving law school, the surreal venue of Bikram Yoga, an evocative, analytical comparison between the merits of surfing and tennis, magical North Beach Noire, San Francisco, a revelatory advice session with a psychiatrist predicated by truth serum, an uncanny, conversational encounter with none other than Coit Tower, Mount Tamalpais in all of her majestic glory, an entrenched romantic celibate's unrequited love, and last but certainly not least, humorous and profound character sketches of Sir Arthur C. Stackerazz, Jacque D'Artichoke, G-d, and The Eghost-- the four personas that comprise human consciousness. Many more edgy anecdotes of interest...
This novel is guaranteed to accelerate your emotional IQ. I am not going to stand here and tell you that my books are the best things since sliced bread. But...does anyone have any butter knives?!
This music video details metaphysical aspects of The Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter (The novel is available on Amazon.com, Kindle.com, and jartichoke.com) in catchy sub-titles. Other books I have written of funny, philosophical, and athletic essays are Sporty Reflections of a Court Recidivist and Some Day You'll Know Me.
In the Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter, social justice themes include the cruel irony of homelessness, the vicious cycle of inner-city youths' intergenerational ineptitude, the elusive quest for world harmony, challenges for undocumented immigrants, the ethical necessity of self-preservation through sensible diet, and environmental global warming. We all share the responsibility of a collective social conscience, however inconvenient. I donate a percentage of each book sale to the above causes that I have written about.
The novel is avant-garde, poetic, edgy, and I'd like to think, inspirational. Famed criminal defense attorney Tony Serra wrote about The Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter, "It is brilliant, articulate, with much psychology and sociology, full of aphorisms, and like being sprinkled with LSD!"
Multiple personas vie for dominion over the self and for humanity's best opportunity to triumph. These characters within all of us engage in a rhetorical bout for first, second, third best, and worst official chance to champion human consciousness. Particular personas are better suited to tackle various existential dilemmas than others. The Ascent of a Barbarious Court Squatter is your black book of worldly, behavorial strategy-- how to carry oneself with dignity against all odds. We were born to transform!
Signing off for now (as should you!)
