Holt Heath Fire - 4 Months On - Is the landscape recovering or is the damage still painfully clear?

Описание: I keep getting asked what happened to Holt Heath after the devastating fire earlier this year. Not quite knowing what to say, I headed back with the drone four months on to see whether there were any early signs of recovery across the heathland.

Back in the summer, around 100 firefighters and 20 fire engines battled the huge blaze at Holt Heath near Wimborne, Dorset. Twenty homes were evacuated as a precaution, and residents were urged to keep windows and doors closed as smoke spread across the area.

The fire scorched an area roughly 1000m by 800m, and crews expected it would take several days before it was fully extinguished. At its height, additional support was brought in from stations across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Devon and Somerset to assist Dorset firefighters.

Some of the original drone footage from the incident was featured on Sky News, BBC, ITV, and many other outlets as the fire took hold.

Now, months later, here’s an updated aerial look at Holt Heath.
