It had a real need to provide the same type of functionality to all officers, including those not equipped with a vehicle. A tailored solution that utilised the Telstra Next G™ network proved to be most cost-effective. The secure solution, akin to a Virtual Private Network over the Telstra Cloud, provided officers with better access to information. The solution comprised hand-held mobile data devices and in-vehicle mobile data devices in regional Western Australia. The result has been significant improvements in policing style and outcomes, helping WA Police to achieve their mission to enhance the quality of life of residents by providing safety and security.
