On behalf of the End Our Cladding Scandal campaign, Giles Grover gave evidence to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Inquiry into the remediation of dangerous cladding. Giles told the cross-party committee of MPs:
• 00:07: The government's new 'Remediation Acceleration Plan' doesn't address the underlying issues and barriers to making homes safe
• 03:42: It's not just a lack of money: we need to start with clear and consistent risk assessment and remediation standards, including internal (non-cladding) defects
• 06:48: Big developers are only remediating to “tolerable” standards - while smaller developers, contractors and manufacturers still need to be made to pay
• 07:48: There is no oversight of the 'Remediation Code of Practice': scaffolding goes up without warning and monarflex sheeting blocks daylight
• 11:06: There are endless delays - from resourcing issues at the Building Safety Regulator, to disputes over the scope of work
• 13:25: Social housing providers must protect shared owners from the impact of this crisis
• 13:40: Around 20% of buildings were assessed by a suspended fire engineer and now don’t know if they are safe. Why didn’t the government act?

Giles joined a panel of witnesses from organisations representing developers, housing associations and local government. This was followed by a second panel, where MPs questioned senior officials from MHCLG and Homes England.
