If cities and regions are to truly make cycling an attractive option over the ease of driving, they must invest in solutions that address all of the excuses and make it silly not to choose the (e-)bike.
Solutions such as doorfietsroutes (“continuous cycling routes”), like the F28 between Utrecht and Amersfoort, which make the idea of pedalling longer distances far more realistic.
Connecting five municipalities and several train stations, this 23 kilometre-long piece of infrastructure provides residents with a safe, convenient, efficient, and economical way to get from home to school, work, and social activities, or simply surround themselves in nature, all without having to step foot inside a car.
