Using Silicone and not plumbers mate / putty. Included the instruction image which shows the manufacturer recommending silicone.
I added a 2nd precaution because it's very common for the waste to leak due to water going around the threads of the waste. PTFE and extra silicone underneath will stop this every time.
Even with silicone, the waste will be very easy to remove even after a few years.
