Come along as I explore the natural beauty of the Ozark Highlands Trail from the Rosetta trailhead to Haw Creek Falls. The trail winds through the Ozark National Forest as we head east from the trailhead.
The first scenic stop along the way: East Hobo Falls. This 23' tall waterfall was going good when I checked it out in mid May. West Hobo Falls was just around the corner from this one, but a tight schedule meant that was a sight I'd have to take in another day.
After the falls, I stop at a campsite along gorgeous Cedar Creek and discover a beautiful blue-green pool of water just behind the site. There was a massive turtle in the water there so I opted to enjoy the water without getting in.
From the campsite, the trail winds up the valley floor to Forest Road 1003. We cross and head down the other side for 5 more miles to reach Haw Creek Falls. The walking is easy all the way from the road to the falls, mostly flat or slightly contoured.
Haw Creek Falls was breathtaking, as usual. Sure, you can drive there and save on the walking, but the journey from Rosetta to Haw Creek Falls was an incredible way to spend the day in nature (and at 16+ miles, it was a great workout, too).
After the falls, it was time to turn around and make my way back to the truck.
