Brookfield Zoo is thrilled to introduce Pistachio, an approximately 13-year-old female Kemp's Ridley sea turtle. Kemp's Ridley sea turtles are the smallest of the sea turtles and are endangered. Pistachio was found injured in the Gulf of Mexico after being struck by a boat propeller. After being rescued, Pistachio was taken to The Florida Aquarium, where she was cared for and rehabilitated in its state-of-the-art Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center. Thanks to Turtles Fly Too, she arrived Wednesday at #BrookfieldZoo and veterinary staff conducted a complete wellness exam, including a CT scan. Now she's getting comfortable in her new home, a 36,000-gallon habitat in The Living Coast. Stay tuned for more updates and a chance to meet Pistachio during a Facebook Live chat very soon!
