Before we begin, let's clear a few things up:
I have no intent to continue down this track. Just testing of some kind, and showcasing what's left in the game.
Now, kind of a FAQ slot:
Q: Why does the grass look like that in an encounter?
A: I think it is related to my settings capture card on my totally real NDS. Leave it alone.
Q: First badge gate appears all white, what's with that?
A: The original textures for this area appears to have been overwritten, and I can't get it to load other working textures of other areas without glitching some areas in that room up. If the texture used is invalid, in the sense that not everything is properly textured, then it simply won't show any textures.
Q: What is with the random Pokemon Centers that appear?
A: As seen in the video, they are not interactable, and have no collision. I surmise they are remnants of scripts used in BW for the electricity effect and the floating effect (in the various rooms). Probably due to the script being incomplete or incompatible, the game resolved that data as a placeholder Pokemon Center. It'll probably take someone with more skill to fix those.
Q: Why are the doors closed?
A: If I recall correctly in BW, the doors are closed, and open when you enter the room the first time. Meaning, it's script related. Will need someone with the know-how to fix them.
Q: What's with the NPCs standing around?
A: Probably remnants from old scripts.
Q: Do those NPCs say anything?
A: Interacting with them does nothing. Doesn't lock the game, doesn't give dialogue. Nothing.
Q: Did you hack these maps in?
A: Yes and no.
No part - The map data for the old badge gates exist in B2W2, just unused.
Same for Route 10.
Yes part - I did have to redo the warps. I did have to copy the map data (only top right quadrant) of Opelucid so that the gate is there. I think I copied the interior of the Opelucid gate from another map (the space the map would have inhibited was still there; IIRC, the space was unused, but the map data was blanked out). I had to associate spawns with Route 10; if overworld map matrix was established, it wouldn't normally have spawns otherwise.
Q: Is it possible to reimplement old Victory Road?
A: Only if one has the required skillset. I don't. The 3D portion of the Victory Road exterior seems to be very different from the BW, so I can't just replace parts of the map. One will probably need to able to edit all of the Victory Road maps visually AND also be able to refit them into the game. I have no idea how to control the 3D coordinates of where you'll spawn in Victory road too. IIRC, the player is supposed to enter from the South downstairs, but somehow in my tests, I just randomly thrown upstairs (as seen in the video).
And even if I could do all that (which I can't), I have no idea how to refit them into the game.
Q: Where can I get the Cgear Skin.
