A few test shots with the new Nikon ZR camera, compared directly to the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Both setups were matched as closely as possible—identical ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and nearly identical focal lengths. The BMPCC was paired with the Voigtländer Nokton 21mm, while the Nikon used the Voigtländer Nokton 40mm to achieve a similar field of view. These lenses aren’t perfectly color-matched, but close enough for a fair comparison.
For color-grading tests, I used uncompressed RED RAW on the Nikon and uncompressed Blackmagic RAW on the BMPCC.
As you’ll notice, when matching skin tones—or any other critical color element—the BMPCC footage introduces a very noticeable purple shift in the shadows. I intentionally left it uncorrected because it felt like an important characteristic worth highlighting.
Moreover, I wasn't aiming for any kind of "cinematic" look, just a base grade to compare the cameras.
