This is a remarkable recording. Producer Richard Perry scheduled a midnight session with Bobby Hatfield and recorded "Stay With Me" and "In The Still Of The Night" in what he called "a pretty spectacular session." This is their first take, recorded live with orchestra and choir. There is also a mix for the single that was released in 1972, with "Rock and Roll Woman" as the B side. The song was written by George David Weiss and Jerry Ragovoy, and originally recorded in 1966 by Lorraine Ellison. This is an outstanding performance by Bobby Hatfield.
