He explains why calcium opens soil and magnesium tightens it, and how the wrong kind of lime can slowly turn good land into concrete. Roots and microbes need oxygen just as much as water, and when soil gets compacted, everything struggles quietly underground.
He also dives into seed vigor and tillage. Commercial seed is often selected for sales, not vitality, and heavy tillage can erase microbial neighborhoods in one pass. Dan shows why saving seed from healthy plants, minimizing disturbance, and keeping soil covered gives crops a totally different energy. When structure is right, plants grow with ease instead of stress — and that freedom shows up as flavor, resilience, and yield.
