Level 42 are a Jazz-Funk Band that were formed in 1979 on the Isle of Wight. They had numerous hits in the UK and US as a four piece band in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
The original four piece lineup has since changed with Phil Gould on Drums and his brother Rowland ‘Boon’ Gould on Guitar leaving the band in the mid 1990’s.
Having reformed in 2001 the band took on a new Guitarist and Drummer who have since both left the band. The lineup now still has the original founding members on Bass (Mark King) and Keyboards (Mike Lindup) with Mark’s son Nathan King joining on Guitar as well as Pete Ray Biggin on Drums. The band also now has a three piece Brass Section (Saxophone, Trombone and Trumpet).
This video was filmed on their 40th Anniversary Tour of their first album World Machine at York Barbican Centre on 24/9/2025. The concert was very enjoyable and a nostalgia trip for myself as Level 42 were the first band I saw live by myself at the age of 15 back in the day. They certainly haven’t lost it over the decades and are true professionals.
This song ‘Hot Water’ was released in 1984 and was from the True Colours album. A fan favourite of a song.
Enjoy the music.
Big Love ❤️ to All.
