Описание: (22 Feb 2017) Western and traditional evening wear dominated the runway as some of Pakistan's biggest designers unveiled their latest collections at the Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer 2017 in Karachi.
Upcoming designer Tena Durrani was among the stars of the opening day with her collection, titled "The Debut." It was dominated by earthly tones and a muted color palette while balancing print, draping and texture.
"The theme behind the collection was…it started from a surreal garden of Eden going into surreal romanticism. I feel our aesthetic at Tena Durrani is very structured artwork, silhouettes," Durrani said.
Nida Azwer showcased her luxury prêt collection "The Susleme," presented across a range of fabrics including silk and organza with vibrant colors inspired by the Uzbek textile palette.
"There are lots of fusion cuts, lots of peplums, lots of drape, lots of embellishments; fun pants. It's a collection that can be paired together, broken down, broken up, mixed and matched. It's fun," said Azwer.
Huma Adnan of FNKASIA showcased her "Avian" collection inspired by winged animals and featured stylistic references from across the globe.
"People have started taking them seriously. People have started taking the business of fashion seriously. And that, I think, is that ten year journey which has changed the perception about the fashion industry," said industry veteran and event organizer Tehmina Khaled.
Ayesha Farooq Hashwani's "La Plage" collection was designed for the cosmopolitan traveler with its clean lines, bold embellishments and embroideries complemented by natural hues.
While there was much to celebrate, there was some criticism, too. "There is obvious room for improvement. It hurts to see a platform downsized from three days to two days," commented fashion journalist Aamna Haider Isani.
Nauman Arfeen, Arsalan Iqbal, Humayun Alamgir also showcased their collections on the opening day of the two-day event.
