Описание: We work our way along the Workington Quay side and it’s Marina leading us onto a long finger of land protruding into the sea with a lighthouse at the end.
We also find the EU wants to control British Bass in EU waters!

Workington is home to the Workington Reds football team.
Workington was once famous for their Steel production here in the UK.
But things have moved on, and new industries have sprung up.

The people of Workington are proud, friendly & generally a happy crowd.
But as the football team name suggests “Red”, you don’t want to get on the wrong side of them!
Things to see and do:
Workington Speedway circuit.
Here, the Workington Comets battle it out on a regular basis on their new (completed in 2022) Scrambler bike dirt track race arena.
There are just 8 such tracks of International standard in the UK so far as we understand.

In former days, smugglers back in the 1800s would be in for a fair cop if they attempted to pass the Billy Bumley house’s.
We met up with a member of the Callion family, who were former ship owners in Workington.

Mrs Callion’s family we’re ship owners based in Workington back in the day.
She explained - These house’s gave shelter to the Port Authorities who would lay in wait for any unsuspecting smuggler coming into port.

There are many confusing stories about these 2 tiny houses, however,
we’ll stick with this Callion family member (90 yrs old) as she can recall exactly what they were built for. The story was passed down from her ship owner grandparents and her father.
