The Barley Harvest is officially done for 2025!

BUT let’s be real – barley is itchy. Like, unbelievably itchy. 😂 So as much as I enjoy the harvest, I’m also pretty glad when it’s done and I can finally stop scratching!


Bio:
I’m a full-time farmer in North Dakota, working alongside my dad — which means I get to argue about equipment, weather, and crop rotation with someone who’s usually right. We farm small grains, canola, and soybeans, which is just a fancy way of saying we spend a lot of time fixing things that shouldn’t be broken and praying for rain (but not too much).

My secret weapons? Too many cans of Alani and Ghost energy drinks to count—because nothing powers a breakdown rescue like a little caffeine and a lot of determination. Farming means long hours, unexpected repairs, and learning to fix things on the fly, often with a wrench in one hand and an energy drink in the other.

Working with my dad means having a partner who’s been through it all and knows the land and machines inside and out. Together, we tackle whatever the season throws at us—breakdowns, weather surprises, and the endless hunt for the perfect cup of coffee substitute.

Still, there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing. It’s hard work, unpredictable, and occasionally makes you question your life choices — but there’s real pride in it. Watching a crop come up that you put in the ground yourself? That never gets old.
