Brown grasshopper Mecopoda
A brown grasshopper of the genus Mecopoda, often called the Malaysian Bush-cricket or simply a Mecopoda Bush Cricket, is a large, long-legged insect known for its excellent camouflage, resembling twigs or dead leaves with its mottled brown color, and long antennae, though it's a type of bush cricket (katydid family) rather than a true grasshopper. They are common in Asia and known for their distinctive appearance and long hind legs.
Mecopoda is a genus of bush crickets (also known as katydids or long-horned grasshoppers) within the subfamily Mecopodinae. While they are often referred to as "brown grasshoppers" by casual observers, they are technically katydids, distinguished from true grasshoppers by their exceptionally long antennae.
