mavis (selena gomez) follows dracula (adam sandler) who is tailing ericka (kathryn hahn) into a hidden room where she dives into a pool wearing a wetsuit underneath and emerges at palace ruins to retrieve a glowing device. dracula saves her from multiple booby traps without thinking, making ericka realize everything she was told about monsters was wrong, but when mavis catches them and sees dracula covered in axes and darts she levitates ericka in anger until dracula admits he zinged for ericka, stunning mavis who drops her, and ericka feeling guilty tells him she can never be with a monster.
