Migori county government in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Sanitation and the World Bank have launched a four-year Water Sanitation and Hygiene programme((K-WASH). Speaking during the launch, the Project Coordinator from the Ministry of Water and Sanitation Julius Korir, noted that the initiative, which is expected to be implemented in over 15 counties intends to address poor sanitation, water scarcity and open defecation hence improving the living standards of the residents. These sentiments were echoed by Migori governor Ochillo Ayacko, who promised to support the transformative initiative for the benefit of the county.
