This is the one week all year when we actually get to ride together. Nine riders—guides, partners, brothers, and friends—heading to Andalusia, Spain, for our end-of-season tradition. But this year was different. We weren't just riding for fun; we were scouting whether southern Spain could extend our motorcycle touring season beyond central Europe's brutal five-month window.
Six days. Nine BMW motorcycles. From Malaga through the Sierra Nevada, into the alien landscape of the Gorafe Desert, through endless olive groves and dramatic white hilltop villages, to the edge of Ronda's 120-meter gorge. We tested routes, checked hotels, shared boot beers and whiskey under the stars, and discovered why Andalusia might be Europe's best-kept riding secret.
This is what happens when the work stops and the real riding begins.
