"Adesso quindi un libro potrà servire a cominciare storie diverse: niente più universi dipinti, niente più spazi rappresentati senza realtà alle spalle; puntiamo sui vuoti, sulle assenze, puntiamo sul non-esistente, in apparenza, delle periferie, puntiamo sul bordo, sul margine, sul limite che sono le campagne e le strutture della nostra realtà che sono, almeno dalla rappresentazione fotografica, emarginate. Certo il problema sarà vedere con che cosa e come le case produttrici di pellicole nella loro pubblicità reagiranno: ci diranno di analizzare le villette di periferia, i casermoni INA, i vasi di cemento, i marciapiedi sbrecciati, i cartelli dissociati, i bordi stopposi e malati delle città e dei paesi dove l'ultima industria invade la bottega dell'artigiano e cavalca il casolare?
