R.E.M Gothic Student Film

Описание: This is a gothic film I have made that centers around a young girl who is about to get ready for bed when she suddenly feels a dark presence looming over her, yet she is unable to identify it. She subsequently falls into a deep sleep, only to awake in a dreamlike world, walking through a maze of doors, searching for something, but unsure of what it might be. The eerie beauty of the world she has entered is both mystic and frightening, harboring an ominous being threatening our young protagonist's life and her chances of every returning home again.

In Modern times, technology reigns supreme. Over the last couple of decades, the sudden flood of internet, computer games, film and the media have entered our lives, contributing and benefitting our very existence yet also eating away at us, at a physiological and spiritual level. These days, our very livelihoods depend on technology, to some degree this acceptable, but when it begins to present us with false values and ideals then this could in turn be harmful. The unknown imminent threat that the young protagonist in my film is subsequent to is the pressures of society, at a technological and commercial level. With technology presenting us with so much information all the time, at such fast and accessible rates, this hinders our ways of thinking creatively and independently. My film perpetuates a subtle warning against the languid conformity to the mass majority of society that refuses to think and create.
