Work needs to be done to retain female employees and give them clearer pathways so they can see themselves in more senior roles, Chantal Swainston, founder of The Heard, has said.
Swainston said the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) industry has made a lot of progress in getting women into more junior roles but more needs to be done to hold on to this talent.
She cited statistics from the Women in Finance Charter which found there were still only about 36 per cent of women in senior roles, even though companies have been trying to improve this.
“So there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of retention and in terms of giving our women a clearer career path into seniority,” said Swainston.
