This presentation will cover what grief is and isn’t, signs someone is grieving or processing loss, and appropriate parenting responses to loss. Also discussed will be how parents can identify their own loss and grief in the adoption process and the importance of parental self care.
We will be joined by Jennifer Cardine. Jennifer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in adoption, trauma, and family-related issues. She works in a group practice called Nourish Your Mind. In addition to her licensure, she was trained in Trust Based Relational Intervention through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development. Jennifer's interest in this specialization is personal, as one of her children came to her family through adoption.
