Arizona is emerging as a key player in space innovation, currently ranking as the 5th largest employer in aerospace and defense manufacturing. With over 1,250 supply chain contributors, the state has a strong foundation to expand its role in space exploration. However, experts say Arizona still lags behind other states in areas like space research, rocket manufacturing, and launch infrastructure.
Jessica Rousset, Executive Director of ASU’s Interplanetary Initiative, joined Arizona Horizon to discuss insights from a recent ASU-hosted space summit. She highlighted how Arizona's growing semiconductor industry, high-tech workforce, and geographic advantages position the state to become more competitive in the national space landscape.
