The Federal Government of Nigeria has begun evacuating citizens willing to leave Iran amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The operation is coordinated by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in collaboration with the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran.

Officials are escorting Nigerians safely across the border into Armenia for secure passage. No Nigerian citizen in Iran has been reported injured or affected by the conflict so far.

Nigerian embassy officials remain stationed at the border to assist those wishing to leave.

The evacuation currently focuses on voluntary requests from citizens. Air evacuation flights may commence once regional airspace becomes safe for international travel.

A multi-agency crisis response team is on standby to support the process.
Authorities advise Nigerians in affected areas to stay calm, remain vigilant, and maintain contact with Nigerian embassies.

The Federal Government emphasizes that the safety and welfare of Nigerians abroad is a top priority, with further arrangements possible as the situation evolves.
