【Persepolis】
I chartered a taxicab for an hour from Shiraz and visited Persepolis. The ancient city was destroyed more than 2,000 years ago, but the ruined ruins reveal the grandeur of those days. Visiting the ruins makes me feel a bit sentimental. After that, I visited the nearby necropolis and returned to Shiraz.
It was Friday, the Sabbath for Muslims. The town was so quiet that the bustle of last night seemed like an illusion.
シーラーズからタクシーをチャーターして1時間、ペルセポリスを訪れた。今から2000年以上も前に滅ぼされた古代都市だが、廃墟となった遺跡からは当時の壮大さが窺い知れる。廃墟を訪れるとちょっとセンチメンタルな気分になる。その後、近くにあるネクロポリスを訪れてからシーラズに戻った。この日は金曜日でイスラム教徒たちの安息日だった。街は静かで昨夜の賑わいが幻のように感じらた。
