Welcome to Belvedere garden in Vienna!
Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663–1736) acquired the land for the construction of the Belvedere. Palace and garden were built from 1700 to 1721. After Prince Eugene's death, his heirs sold the Belvedere to Empress Maria Theresia, who gave the ensemble its name.
Around 1900, the Upper Belvedere became the residence of the heir to the throne, Franz Ferdinand.
