In this video we take you to a small coastal town of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle in the state of Nayarit, Mexico. La Cruz (the name it is commonly known by) is situated North of Bucerias in the Bay of Banderas along the Vallarta coastline and is about 45 min away by car from Puerto Vallarta. Just like other beach towns in the Riviera Nayarit, this little town will charm you with its relaxed and chill vibes and warmth and friendliness of local people. We are taking you to a local landmark, Marina Riviera Nayarit, where we stop to dine at one of the local favorites, La Peska.

Evidently, La Peska is not just loved by locals. It is a dining spot sought after by people visiting La Cruz from all over Nayarit and beyond, whether they come by car or boat. The marina is a perfect place for boaters, yachtsmen and tourists to make a stop to rest and indulge themselves in the delightful food offered by La Peska. We were not an exception! And the place lived up to its reputation.

First, I loved its unique interior design decorated with marine life. My son was fascinated with spying different sea creatures painted on and hanging from the walls and ceiling all over the restaurant. I also loved the views of the marina and the ocean with the boats rocking at a distance. The restaurant has the big and wide windows and is a great lookout with a vantage point! Finally, to say the food was great is simply an understatement. The taste and flavor of La Peska dishes can easily rival the taste of those at a five star restaurant. Don’t hesitate to put La Peska on top of your list when you visit La Cruz or anywhere in Nayarit. Just be ready to have your expectations surpassed!

As if that wasn't enough, our delightful dining experience had a surprise finale! Our unexpected meeting of a wonderful Mexican family while at the restaurant made the entire experience even more unforgettable. It was the Mom with the children and their friends, who also happened to dine at La Peska and approached us with an out-of-this-world offer! They kindly invited us to join them for an open sea ride on their boat docked in the marina.

Who would invite strangers to come onboard a private boat?? Here we are talking about the Mexican people and how open, trusting and hospitable they are! Since the day we arrived in Mexico, I've been in awe of witnessing how warm-hearted and caring Mexican people are. The family we met at La Peska was just a true testament to what the Mexican people are at their core.

As one can imagine, the boat experience came to be the one to never forget: a beautiful boat, a smooth ride and a hearty conversation in the deep blue waters with the sea breeze in the face and the ocean sound in the ears! However, the most important thing was an overwhelming feeling of gratitude, respect and admiration for the people of Mexico.

I will be concentrating on one place per video to show the full dining experience in that Mexican restaurant. Where possible, I will be talking to the owner, chef or manager for more information.
