Winter doesn’t give second chances. If I want to make it, I have to get food and store it now. I set wild boar traps on the trails they keep using, read the tracks, watch the wind, and pick the right choke points so I don’t waste energy. When I get meat, I can’t blow through it in a few days. I build a fire and smoke it carefully to preserve it—every batch is a safer week, another night without hunger hanging over me. I don’t rely on luck. I rely on skill, discipline, and the determination to push through winter with my own two hands.
