Before the first light fractures the sky,
Before the last star learns to die,
I stood crowned in ashes and conceit,
An emperor kneeling in defeat.
My kingdom vast — yet built on sand,
A fragile throne by trembling hand.
Time mocked the walls I thought would last,
Each second whispering, “All will pass…”

I forged my rule from molten pride!
Let lesser truths be crucified!
I fed the beast that bore my name,
And set my own heart into flame!
Cities of ego, blackened and tall,
Banners of arrogance ready to fall!
No law but hunger! No god but me!
Blind to the chains I could not see!

Then came the drought no rain could heal,
A famine no feast could conceal.
Fasting flesh, but spirit starved,
A hollow monument deeply carved.
In the hour where silence screams,
I saw the fracture in my schemes.
The empire cracked beneath its weight,
Exposed to mercy… and to fate.

The crescent hung — a silver blade,
Over towers I once displayed.
Stone by stone the walls gave way,
As dawn prepared its reckoning day.
Let it fall!
Let it burn!
Let the arrogant throne overturn!

Dust to dust — the crown undone!
Dust to dust — no more to run!
From shattered halls and broken breath,
I tasted pride… I tasted death!

But in the ruin — light remained,
Not wrathful fire, but mercy unchained.
No thunderbolt, no crushing hand,
Only grace I could not command.
I bowed where once I stood so tall,
No emperor now — no throne at all.
Between the grave of who I’d been,
Something trembling stirred within.

Empire of dust and mercy rise!
From fallen kings and opened eyes!
Let every tyrant self be slain,
So humbled hearts through night remain!
