Be ready
We have literally turned our services outside – in, moving from group-based personal development in Scotland’s wilderness and outdoors in communities to working with smart technology to reach those who need help most in their own homes. Our new support service is online, with all Venture Trust support staff providing tailored support by phone or digital platforms.
Many of the people we support are struggling with their mental health and a range of complex life circumstances including poor living conditions, a history of fractured relationships and behaviours associated with offending. In seeking support from us, they are also working on transforming their life for the better – to be happier, healthier and in work. We want to ensure they stay well and on a positive path, can access support they need and are ready to contribute.
Prior to the emergency, we were supporting close to 400 people. We estimate our reach through this new service to be 600+ at risk individuals and their families in some of Scotland’s most disadvantaged communities.

The new reality of reduced social contact, self-isolation and disruption of services will have a disproportionate effect on people who were already struggling and at risk. We are using our expertise in personal development and coaching to support people, offering help with a dedicated worker and access to specialist support available in our 3 Digital Hubs.
Be well – Active Living Hub
Offer people personal development to maintain positive relationships, activities to build routine and stay healthy. This will include advice for keeping active and healthy eating.
Be connected – Wellbeing Hub
Offer people counselling support and mental health advice from qualified Venture Trust professionals. This will be a service to all those in need of emotional or psychological support during their experience of isolation.
Be ready – Employability Hub
Offer people core skills development, self-awareness, barrier removal and goal setting with employability support aimed at those looking for further training and progression to employment. Supporting people to be more ready for work or to volunteer in their community.
