In January, I was scheduled to fly an Angel Flight West Mission from Felts Field in Spokane to Seattle. The passenger was travelling to receive weekly chemotherapy in Seattle. This video focuses on the flight from Renton (RNT) in Seattle to Felt’s Field (SFF) in Spokane to meet the passenger.
The majority flight was in beautiful, chilly VFR winter conditions. The final approach to Felt’s Field was through low clouds and we flew the RNAV 4L approach.
I was also checking on the boost performance of the turbo chargers on the Austro engines at altitude. There has been an issue where the left engine power drops off sooner than the right as we climb up above altitude. The mechanics worked on this during the plane’s recent annual so I was eager to test the performance above 10,000ft. On this flight I was able to get up to 17,000ft and check it out.
