On January 11, 2013, a commemorative khachkar column symbolizing Armenian-Italian friendship was unveiled in front of the port in the historic center of Bari (Italy). The khachkar monument is a cube measuring 2 m and 40 cm in height, combining elements of Armenian and Latin crosses and ornaments.
On the front side of the composition, there is a symbol of eternity and an image of a cross, characteristic for most Armenian khachkars, with an image of a bird symbolizing the sky above and to the right, in the center of which is a composition of the tree of life reaching for the sky.
On the left side of the front side there is a cuneiform inscription in Armenian letters, and on the right side there is an inscription in Latin letters.
