How to know if its oil or water based paint - #1 Painting mistake

Описание: This is how to test and know 100% if the previous original paint was water or oil based paint. Water based paints are also known as latex and acrylic paints. The number one biggest painting mistake DIY er's and painters make is painting water /latex / acrylic paint over an existing oil based paint. This issue here is that water based paint can not be used on top of oil based paints but oil based paints can be used on top of water. To apply a water based paint over oil based you will need to do a few extra steps before hand which include, using a de gloss, sanding the surface and using an adequate primmer to ensure to the new paint will adhere. If you try and apply water based paint on top of oil without the preparation required the paint simply wont stick / adhere to the surface and it will peel and flake off.
