Traditional aircraft lights have been hot, short lived, and so-so for brightness. Now, with advances in LED light technology, aircraft lights can be brighter, last longer, and run on far less power than incandescent bulbs.
I've been making these simple light upgrades to our aircraft for years, and it's only getting easier (and thankfully cheaper) to do it.
As always, consult with your local A&P mechanic or thoroughly know the FARs and Advisory Circulars around preventative maintenance.
