"Here we want to show the feel of the contemporary with an encounter with old and antique items.”

7. SOUNDBITE (Hungarian) Kati Zoób, fashion designer and owner of the Fashion & Museum:
"This exhibition is about fusion fashion, which essentially combines antique and contemporary elements and refreshes them with antique decorative parts. But it is also fusion in the sense that we use different ethnic motifs to refresh dresses. And there is another very important thing. Fashion today has a completely new and very important message: sustainability. And with this exhibition, I wanted to show that serious fashion, the fine craftsmanship, has always been sustainable. After all, a beautifully made dress was passed on and sold by the estate when a fashion-loving lady passed away.”

"A lot of heritage ends up on sale online, so now you can buy real treasures like these.”

"Today, fashion has many negative connotations. My response to this is to show how valuable old objects can be.”

UPSOUND (Hungarian) Kati Zoób, fashion designer and owner of the Fashion & Museum:
"Just think how long it takes to make something like this. And how incredible is this creative, life-affirming approach that someone used to make such a small piece of clothing back then.”

16. SOUNDBITE (Hungarian) Kati Zoób, fashion designer and owner of the Fashion & Museum:
"Everyone is tired of today’s uniformity, the diversity of sameness. I think we’re living in a time when people realise that. I think I've always been like this, because I actually wore my grandmother's pleated skirt too.”

"Then there is something very, very interesting here. It is most likely a Transylvanian apron, which has been made and worn by two different generations.”
18. SOUNDBITE (Hungarian) Kati Zoób, fashion designer and owner of the Fashion & Museum:
"Let's not just think about what we can buy in stores. Let's think about how today, when we type messages on our cell phones, no one leaves a few handwritten letters for their children anymore. The handmade crafts are absolutely equivalent to handwritten messages. And I feel that with this exhibition, I can draw people's attention to the impact and value of handmade objects in the world. I see that they are very receptive to this. And no, I don't think my thoughts would be revolutionary. I'm just talking about them.”
