Dye Penetrant Test (DPT) is also known as Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI) or Penetrant Test (PT). It is one of the most widely used Non Destructive Test (NDT) methods. It can be used to inspect almost all non-porous materials such as metals, plastics, ceramics etc.by this test method.
There are six basic steps to follow when using the dye penetrant solvent removable method.
1.Pre-clean part. This can range from grinding and wire brushing to merely wiping the part with a rag moistened with the cleaner/ remover.
2.Apply penetrant.
3.Remove penetrant.
4.Apply developer.
5.Evaluate indications.
6.Post-clean part.
