B.M’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. As the firstborn of nine siblings, he reflects fondly on his childhood, his parents’ resilience, and the powerful lessons he picked from his father — especially the importance of commitment and family.

His love for music began early; in fact, he wrote his first song in Class 6. But the road to pursuing his passion wasn’t easy. After completing secondary school, B.M hustled through different jobs — hawking chickens, working in a hotel, and later as a watchman, where he hilariously recounts some of his experiences. He also worked in mjengo, and it was during this time that he rediscovered his love for music and his guitar.

Although his parents were initially skeptical about their firstborn son choosing Mugithi as a career, B.M’s determination, unique voice, and guitar skills not only won over his fans but eventually convinced his parents too.

In this episode, B.M opens up about the challenges of being an upcoming artist, the mentors and artists who have inspired him — including 90k ka Msoo, Samidoh, and others — and the blessings he’s encountered along the way.

Of course, he doesn’t leave without his guitar! He performs his soulful track Ciugo cia ngoro along with some of his favorite Mugithi hits.
