BUDDY RICH CENTENNIAL HISTORY"BR 1970 Slingerland Drums" Part I *Ken Loomer

Описание: 2017 marks the 100th birthday year of the world`s greatest drummer,Buddy Rich.Every drummer I know of from Dave Weckl,Steve Smith,Jeff Hamilton,Steve Gadd,Neil Peart,have learned from this master of the drums.I first saw Buddy Rich live back in 1969 at a concert in Hartford,Connecticut. The first picture that you see in the video is one I took with my Kodak camera showing Buddy`s Slingerland drum kit that night in December of 1969. After that night,I wanted to get a set of Slingerlands since my two favorite drummers,Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich both use Slingerland drums. I ordered my BR Slingerland drums at Sam Ash music store in New York City. I got to pick up my new drums when they came in late August of 1970. These are the drums you see in the video.This set has the famous 4x14 inch chrome over wood BR snare drum with the straight edge hoops.Buddy played this snare drum for almost 3 years. It is a super crisp snare with great attack sound and super rim shots! I ordered the 24 inch bass drum with this 80N Slingerland Buddy Rich model drum set. Of course it came with the 9x13 inch tom and two 16x16 inch floor toms.Slingerland made the best looking Marine Pearl.As you can see,it still looks great.Since I took extra care of these drums,they still look new. I notice Buddy was using a Rogers Swiv-O-Matic bass drum pedal that first night I saw him,so I had to get one to check it out.One of the best pedals ever made! I also got a Rogers splash arm which is rare. These Slingerland drums are some of the best drums ever made with a sound that are so clear and of course can be tuned up so well. For me,it will always be about the music first. Buddy Rich showed me it was possible for a drummer to have his own Big Band if you believe you could do it. These Slingerland drums are 47 years old and they have the perfect sound for Big Band music.
