This was Day Two of our trip across the UP. Copper Harbor was our planned destination, but the weather had other ideas. When we left the White Pine Lodge in Christmas, Michigan, it had just rained, the sky was heavy and gray, and the forecast for the next three days in the Copper Harbor area was calling for severe storms. After already riding through lake‑effect storms in Harbor Beach during the family reunion, we had zero desire to knowingly head straight into more bad weather.
So we made the best of it and changed our route. Instead of pushing north, we rerouted and ended up in Marinette, Wisconsin. Not what we planned—but still part of the adventure.
