We are also going to look at those tax topic codes many of you are seeing when checking your refund status results as well reference code 1242, and the IRS has released a draft of the newest 1040 tax form so were going to take a look at some changes. The IRS has released the latest numbers dropping the backlog to now 9.7 million returns which is the lowest it has been in three months.

Now turning to those tax topic codes many are still reporting receiving with a majority seeing Tax topic 151 and 152. Tax topic code 151 does indicate a potential problem with your return causing it to be under further view and that you should be expecting a tax refund adjustment as a result. Meanwhile Tax Topic 152 is a standard IRS processing code and does not indicate any problem with your tax return and does not require any additional steps on your part such as submitting documentation.
